Our
"Annual" Spinning Rendezvous began Friday
afternoon with a relaxing evening sitting on the front porch spinning,
knitting and just having a relaxing chat.
Saturday
began with a great breakfast then out to the deck to do a little spinning
and knitting while we waited for our first hands on project by Dawn
Anderberg and her sister Dianne Ader. We all had a chance to make 4
coaster type tiles of a ceramic type. The project began with puting
basic felt tabs ont he bottoms of the tiles then the arduous process
of deciding what we wanted to stamp on the tiles. Luckily we had time
to wipe our stamping when we liked someone elses design better! A fun
project that was finished Sunday morning with a light coating of lacquer
to set the inks. Thanks Dianne and Dawn!
Then
we, of course, needed a break to have a bite of lunch before beginning
our next project which was called "Yarn Tasting". Norma Ward,
who has the local yarn shop, kindly brought some of her exotic fiber
blends up for us to try out and grade. We all went from fiber to fiber
and table to table trying out some very nice exotic fiber blends and
then filled out a sheet about what we thought of each and what sort
of projects we might use them for. The yarns ranged from blends of New
Zealand Possum, Baffalo and yak. All extremely lovely fibers! Thanks
Norma!
The
rest of Saturday was spent saw us spinning and knitting away chatting
and sharing news of the past year.
Sunday
morning our "Tile" projects were finished up before we gathered
inside for "Show and Tell". Always my favorite part of the
weekend where we get to see what each of us has been up to for the last
year. Projects ranged from weaving to knitting and everything in between.
We had first year spinners (wheel and drop spindle) to knitted dolls
and scarves of every size and shape. Needle felted animal were cute
and a "Surprise" birthday song and gift for the twins Dawn
and Dianne. As
you will see from the slide show there were some wonderful projects.
Thanks
Carol for the picture of me!
After
"Show and Tell" we spent time wanting this pattern and those
instructions so hopefully next year I remember to remind you all to
bring those to share with everyone. We continued spinning till lunch
time (yes food again!) you hve no idea how stenuous spinning can be.
;O) After lunch Bethany was nice enough to bring the bus for a field
trip down to Norma's yarn shop. We hoped on for the about 5 mile trip
down the road to check out all of her products at her cozy shop sitting
on the edge of her field with a wonderful view of Rainbow Falls. After
browsing and buying we headed back up the road so Leslie could hope
on a raft for a fun filled though somewhat wet trip down the river.
The rest of us opted to stay at The Ranch for the rest of the afternoon
of more spinning and relaxing under the trees.
Sadly
next moring everyone had to head back down lake. We were sad to see
them go but without Pam to do her dance most of us left behind just
waved our fellow spinners off for and other year. Thank you
ladies for all your help and for making this, yet again, a great week-end!
